If you’re thinking about joining us in Barcelona this October, here are five things you should know about the first-ever PressConf Europe.
1. Barcelona Is Lovely and We Know It
We chose Barcelona for its energy.
Spain has a vibrant WordPress community, with meetups, agencies, founders, freelancers and plenty of familiar faces we’ve met through WordPress over the years.
But there’s another reason we chose Barcelona: it’s a place people actually want to visit.
The Mediterranean, the food, the architecture, the sunshine, the long lunches. We figured that if we’re asking you to travel for a conference, we might as well make the destination part of the experience. We like to call it work-life balance. 😌
2. We’re Staying Where We Meet
We wanted a venue that felt like more than just a conference room. And when we found H10 Marina Barcelona, we knew we had it.
Set right by the marina, it gives us a beautiful place to meet, stay, connect and take a breather between sessions. And we’re staying there too, for the entire conference.
We’ve also secured a special hotel rate for PressConf Europe attendees, so you can skip the commute, spend more time with fellow attendees and wake up to that view.
One place. Less logistics. More time together.
3. The People on Stage >>
We’re getting ready to announce our first batch of speakers, and we promise they’ll be worth the wait.
You’ll hear from people who have built businesses, shaped products and spent years learning what it takes to grow—in WordPress and well beyond it.
We’re especially interested in the stories behind the work: the experiences that changed people, the challenges that shaped them, and the ways WordPress has played a part in their journeys.
Our speakers will be joining us from both Europe and the US, bringing different perspectives to the same room.
4. Welcome Party, WonderDay, & Plenty of Time to Have Fun
The PressConf format stays familiar, but with a few Barcelona twists.
We’ll kick things off on the first evening with a welcome reception: a chance to arrive, say hello and catch up before the conference begins.
The following two days are dedicated to talks, conversations and generous lunch breaks. (You might want to skip that post-lunch siesta, though!)
And then there’s the final day. That one is reserved for fun.
We’ll share more about WonderDay soon, but in the meantime, you can keep an eye on the schedule here.
And because we don’t expect you to spend all your time inside the hotel, we’ve also put together a Barcelona guide with restaurants, outdoor activities and places to stay that we think you’ll enjoy.
5. Our Theme Is Perseverance
Putting together a conference from across the ocean has been an adventure.
There are speakers, attendees and team members to coordinate across at least two continents, all while trying to create the kind of experience we want PressConf to be known for. But we wanted to do it anyway.
After PressConf US earlier this year, we heard from many Europeans who couldn’t make the trip to the US. We understand. Traveling across an ocean for a conference isn’t always possible.
So we decided to bring PressConf to Europe.
That’s where Perseverance comes in.
It’s about continuing to build, even when it’s complicated. Staying committed to something you believe in. And making the effort to bring people together, even when the easy option would be not to.
We’re still looking for sponsors who want to help us make the best possible experience for everyone joining us in Barcelona. If you’re interested, or know someone who might be, send them our way.
We’ll be sharing more details, speakers and surprises over the coming weeks.
See you in Barcelona!🌴
